Ordered for pick up as we were staying at a hotel nearby (ordered meatball sandwich, fries) and was so shocked at how big the sandwich was and how delicious it was. I never jump on to write food reviews, but it was SO good that I had to. 10/10 would recommend and would eat there a ton if I lived in SF.

IMSRO, the best cheesesteak in SF. The kitchen is not fast. And the indoor ambiance is not existent. But order the basic cheesesteak, order with peppers, sit outside if it's a nice day. And enjoy a delicious sandwich. Worth the wait.

Loved the food. They did not skimp on anything. And their Club Salad was amazingly tasty. Will visit again!

The place is located on a small but crowded street. Parking can be a challenge, as the Moscone Softball Fields are close by. This was my first time at Jake's. Friendly service. Bar service available. Multiple TV screens showing professional sports. 12" Original Philly Cheesesteak: Go traditional " Whiz wit" (This means cheese Whiz, with onions. Good sized sandwich. They did not skimp on the meat, which was compactly chopped up and seasoned well. The Amoroso bread was soft yet firm. I am not a Philly cheesesteak expert, but I thought this was pretty good and delicious. Yelp Check-in and get a free soda.

Here for my daughter's softball playoffs checking out the Eagles vs Vikings. Jakes is a Philadelphia fan hang out and they had big screen TVs, speakers, tables and air horns going off during game. We were there to grab a small protein snack and ordered the cheesesteak with mushrooms. It was good, gooey and cheesy. The 12" cheesesteak and a Diet Coke is $20. Good deals on beer. Limited service order at the register. Street parking only.

Don't you love things that rhyme? Do you know how badly I want to say Jake's Steaks are Great? Well I can't say that because it was just really good actually. Great? I don't know. Had two cheesesteaks from this place and I was pretty happy with them both. I like to have a heavy meal on some weekend nights. I mean I really can go nuts. But to get my moneys worth here I got to order a large and add extra meat. The large on its own isn't big at all. I think the price is wildly unfair to try and get a significant cheesesteak. But I will say it's the best I've had in SF but I have not had many here. It's not a food I see SF moving a lot of. That's fine. Jake's steaks will be a very reliable option for you if you are craving a cheesesteak. Knowing I haven't had too many cheesesteaks in SF I can't I'm good conscious give a crazy score here. (4.4 Stars)

Before the Eagles beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship game, SFGate published an article about this Philly sports bar on a residential side street of the Marina. My college friend and I knew we had to go there to watch the Super Bowl (though they have another location on Valencia.) We have a soft spot for Philly after going to college there. Jake's is a mood, a vibe, and makes you feel like visiting Philly. It's a slice of Philly in SF and I can't imagine a better place to watch the Super Bowl. People got there when they opened to get indoor seats, and at 11:30am for a 3:30pm game to get outdoor seating. Some people also brought their own fold-up sports chairs for the occasion. I've never seen so much Philly or Eagles gear in SF, and people came from all over the Bay Area to watch the game there. The current owner, Jr., now goes by Jake. He was the best host. They prepped green jello shots for the occasion and provided great beer like Liberty Ale. The indoor decor pays an homage to Philly sports, not just the Eagles. The inside wall includes a large image of the Schuylkill River. Of course, the cheesesteaks were perfect. My college friend said it's the best one he's had since leaving Philly. They have a nice delivery business going, but the main reason you go here is for the community and the people. And Jake.
